How it's made
Your artist gets to work.
They study every photo and every note you send. Every Welham & Co portrait is hand-painted digitally, stroke by stroke from a blank canvas, and you get the time-lapse.
Every portrait has a person behind it. Each Welham & Co portrait is hand-painted digitally by a real artist, and you can watch yours being made in its time-lapse.
How your portrait is made
- Your artist studies every photo and note you send.
- You see a sketch preview in 1–3 days, shown first, so you can check where everything sits and ask for changes.
- Once you're happy with it, they paint the final portrait digitally, stroke by stroke, from a blank canvas.
- You see the first look of your artwork, with the time-lapse of it being painted, 1–3 days after you approve the sketch.
- We print and frame it near you.
No AI. No filters.
Every portrait is made by people, not AI. We don't use AI or filters to create, combine or finish your portrait, and the time-lapse of yours shows every stroke.
Who is your artist?
A real artist from our roster who paints in the style you choose. Choose your artist, or we'll match you with the next available artist in your style. Their first name is on your order and your first look.
What do you receive?
A sketch preview of your portrait in 1–3 days, to check before it's painted. Then the first look of your artwork, with the time-lapse of it being painted, 1–3 days after you approve the sketch, and unlimited revisions until you love it. Your portrait is then printed on museum-quality paper and framed in Canada, and delivered in about 1–2 weeks after you approve.
Why we changed
In 2026 we rebuilt how every portrait is made, so that a real artist makes each one. Read Luke's note.
